I understand that it can be very hard for parents to know what to do when their child is suffering emotionally, & they can feel very powerless.
They may feel, somewhat unfairly, that they are in some way to blame and that seeking help is shameful or even to be avoided. We would never hold back from taking a child to a doctor for a physical issue however, like a broken leg, and mental health issues are absolutely no different.
The most effective treatment is always to engage as soon as possible with a specialist in child & adolescent psychotherapy and counselling. 50% of adult mental health problems are established by age 14.

I practise psychodynamic psychotherapy, in an individual face to face, child led, safe & relaxed setting.
I look at a child’s experiences to understand their difficulties & to support recovery. This is done safely, in a contained & confidential way via play therapy, art therapy, puppets, sand play, storytelling & imaginative play. I have made a positive difference to lots of children’s & adolescents' lives.
I treat children & adolescents from 4-23 years. I help with abuse, addictions, adoption, anger, anxiety, bereavement & loss, bullying, depression, eating disorders, identity issues, loneliness, obsessions, OCD, phobias, post traumatic stress disorder, relationships, sadness, self esteem & confidence, self harm, sexual & gender identity & sexuality & the withdrawn.
